It never got above 15 degrees today and our street remained a thick sheet of ice. Around 2:30, we slid across the alley for a much needed change of scenery and playdate, but most of the day, we were home alone. Zoe did much better counting to 100 by herself (I provided a little more help) and was able to see her progress from yesterday - I love it when she can tell she is getting better at something that is hard for her.

I LOVE Phonics Comics. It's like someone knew Zoe and wrote an easy reader for her. Today's was about a girl who gets a toy purple pony that turns real when no one is around. In tomorrow's chapter, we think the horse learns to fly!
We made beaded necklaces from the dollar bin. Zoe's was a purple pony.
We explored light and shadow with flashlights (a hard thing to catch on camera!). Here, Lucy has drug her princess castle into the school room to see how the light shines out of all the little windows.
What a great ice day at school!
ReplyDeleteI love the graphic novels for that age--- but, surprisingly, a lot kids that age get confused on which way to go, which box to follow. I checked with my vendor---not AR. So, of course, they are not on my shelves! Sad.
Tell Zoe I was helping some 1st graders with books today and showed them The Lion and the Mouse that she read to the school---and told them my granddaughter had just read that book. Three of them checked it out on the spot!
