I is for iPad

Today, we were back to our normal routine.  We started off with calendar, counting, map skills, and Lucy's letter of the week: I

Lucy making play-doh I's: I printed off a sheet and put it in a zip-loc bag as a guide.

I'm planning on doing more copywork with Zoe to work on handwriting. I found an Africa calendar for $0.25 at Target and made it our first project.  She cut the pages out, glued them on a page with handwriting lines, chose the word that matched from a word bank and then carefully wrote the word on the bottom.  In the end, she will have a book to keep.  This was very motivating for her.

We worked on word families next, sorting pictures into groups.
Most of this was review for her, but I am starting to introduce long vowels.

We did some math and some guided reading.  Then, the girls listened to a few books on the iPad.  I like the MeeGenius app because it highlights each word as it reads it, which is good for Zoe to learn words and Lucy to learn  to follow the story.

Not too exciting today, but it's nice to be back in a regular, "boring" routine.
