Plugging along

We are still here, recovered from strep for the most part, and plugging away.  We have been keeping up with school, but not so much with the pictures and blogging.  It's a very busy time getting ready for Beach Week at the Academy.  We have some exciting lessons planned involving the squishiness of sand in our toes and the courage required to brave the many sharks and whales Lucy is convinced lie in wait just past the shoreline. (We will be having a "little bit of homeschool" as Lucy likes to say but are prepared for more if it rains.)

In the meantime, we have been plugging along at math, reading, and spelling, and slacking off a bit in science and social studies.  I did get my camera out when we had Puzzle and Game day on Friday.

A new game called "trick your sister." You try to think of a tricky number and put your block on it.  They have to figure out which number it is.  Tricky!

Zoe is all of a sudden enjoying puzzles.  She loves doing this one with the identical wall map as a reference point.  She is remembering more and more places where we have been or where special people live.

LOVE this puzzle.  I couldn't find a link to it, but it's a big hit and can be done on several different levels.

Sometimes, I can't believe how big they are.  The time is flying by...mostly.  It's hard some days - we are in a bit of a spring slump in motivation and seeing payoff on our hard work.  But while I question many (many, many) things about what and how I am teaching, I never question that this is right for us right now.  It's working for us, and I'm glad we're doing it.
